Leaning Tower of Pisa

Pisa, Italy

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the coolest buildings in Europe, famous for its accidental tilt. It started leaning during construction because the ground on one side was too soft to hold up the tower’s weight.

Construction started in 1173 and took a really long time – almost 200 years! People have argued a lot about who the real architect was. Some say it was an artist named Bonnano Pisano, while others believe it was an architect named Diotisalvi.
